Pogrom in Al-Tuba (Masafer Yatta)

11 April, 2026
West Bank, Masafer Yatta, Al-Khalil/Hebron

On the evening of April 4, 2026, a gang of settlers attacked the Tuba area in Masafer, the town of Yatta, and assaulted citizens, which led to a young man suffocating as a result of pepper gas being sprayed in his face, and the child Awad Khalil Awad (5 years old) was injured and bruised in the head as a result of being pushed by settlers on the ground.

Anti-settlement activist Osama Makhamreh testified that colonists stormed the village, attacking residents and using pepper spray at close range, which caused a young man to suffer suffocation symptoms. He added that a five-year-old child, Awad Khalil Awad, sustained head injuries and bruises after being pushed to the ground during the assault. Both were treated on site.

The group also stole a number of livestock belonging to the resident Omar Mohammed Abu Jundiya.

They also attacked farmers in the Ashkareh area south of the nearby town of Yatta, chasing them. At 15:10, Israeli forces raided the Ashkara area, fired stun grenades and tear gas towards citizens and homes, while they were trying to confront the settlers. Then, Israeli soldiers detained two Palestinian residents after assaulting them, breaking their phones, and confiscating their devices, while another resident also had his phone destroyed during the incident. The two detainees in the Ashkara area, south of the town of Yatta, are: Munther Mahmoud Abu Qubaita and Hammad Jabr Al-Nawajaa.
