Day 16 of Israel's third ground invasion of the North Gaza governorate. The day follows a major massacre perperated by Israel in Beit Lahia where over 150 casualties were recorded in the bombardment of residential blocks. Despite the scale of the massacre, little pictures or precise statistics have been published as of October 20 morning. This is also attirbuted to the communications blackout imposed by Israel since the afternoon of October 19. Journalist Yusuf Fares [reported](https://x.com/Yusuf198989/status/1847899160109858856) recieving messages about families being bombed at home and still under the rubble in Jabalia and Tal al-Zaatar, without any news being published about them. These include the homes of the Al-Barai and Al-Balbisi families next to Abu Qamar supermarket. At 3:20 pm, an Israeli strike targeted a **convoy of three ambulances** belonging to Al-Awda Hospital, **killing two women**. The ambulances were carrying 6 injuries to be transfered to Kamal Adwan Hospital, along with a newborn, whose mother was among those who were killed. Crews were able to evacuate 5 injuries. They could not rescue the sixth as the IDF continued targeting them. Some of the above details were corroborated by the **testimony of paramedic "Abu Khalil"**. His account was that the convoy was transfering injuries to Kamal Adwan Hospital when there was a sudden violent explosion while they were on Al-Khulafa Street. The crews evacuated those they could, but could not reach one victim. There was a woman pronouncing her shahada near the ambulance behind them that was completely destroyed. The newborn survived but could only be retrieved almost a day, miraculously still alive. A 3 year-old child, Sami Mahmoud Ayyad, was killed when aid was aidropped on a tent camp in Khan Younis. He was the youngest of his mother's sons and she only had him after 5 years.

Around [10:30 pm](https://x.com/Hamzaalnamla1/status/1847725606089204018), Israeli airstrikes targeted [multiple residential blocks](https://x.com/AnasAlSharif0/status/1847755085373190362), close to Abu Jidyan, between Abu Jidyan roundabout and Al-Qassam mosque in Beit Lahia. Journalist Hani Mahmoud received reports that the attack was so massive it [shook the entire western part of Beit Lahia](https://aje.io/dxobk5?update=3259257). The Israeli bombardment razed to the ground **four or five residential blocks** where multiple families were residing, including the Al-Sharif, Obaid, Al-Dariwi, Hindi, and Al-Kahlout families. The recent displacement from to Beit Lahia from Jabalia due to the brutal Israeli siege led to an even greater number of civilians being condensed in Beit Lahia. ### Casualties: As of October 20 midday, the [death toll](https://x.com/Hamzaalnamla1/status/1847933579185066053) stood at **87 martyrs and missing people** under the rubble, and **over 40 injuries**, including very critical cases. Civil Defense crews were unable to complete the rescue operations due to [direct fire](https://x.com/AnasAlSharif0/status/1847763758875038135) on the medical crews by Israeli aircraft. The school houses an UNRWA medical point that provides services to residents from different areas of Gaza City, especially pregnant women, and the are usually people there.
